Professional Progress Summary
NURS 481: Role Transition
NURS 481: Role Transition
Purpose of the Assignment: to guide you through a process of self-reflection and self-evaluation to discover the scope of your personal and professional development while enrolled in the undergraduate nursing program.

Student Approach to Assignment: I chose to focus on my perioperative and PACU clinical experience because it was the most meaningful part of my semester. It was where I saw the biggest growth in myself as a future nurse. At first, I mostly observed and assisted, but over time, I began to take on more responsibilities like starting IVs and placing straight catheters. This experience helped me connect what I learned in class to real-life patient care. I also improved my critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills. Most importantly, I gained more confidence in myself and my ability to care for patients in a fast-paced environment.

Reason for Inclusion of the Assignment in the Portfolio: I included this assignment in my portfolio because it shows how much I’ve grown during my clinicals. I learned to connect what I studied in class to real patient care, and I became more confident in my skills. It shows I can give patient-centered care, make safe decisions, work well with the team, and stay calm under pressure. This experience helped me feel more prepared to start my nursing career.
